Road to Recovery Welcomes New Leadership and Staff

R2R is pleased to welcome several new additions to the team. Amy Gambrill joined Road to Recovery as our Executive Director in September 2025. Amy brings more than 25 years of experience in conservation, water, and climate change implementation along with senior leadership in the international environment sector to guide the initiative.

“I am excited to be a part of R2R into its next phase. By combining actionable science, human dimensions, and inclusive governance, Species Working Groups can achieve measurable, sustainable recovery for some of the western hemisphere’s most vulnerable bird species,” Ms. Gambrill said.

Katie Krafte Holland, Associate Research Professor at Georgetown University, is now R2R’s Lead Social Scientist. Dr. Holland has been a member of the R2R team since 2022. In this new and expanded role, she will continue supporting working groups with the implementation of human dimensions efforts in all phrases of recovery planning.

Esmeralda Bravo is R2R’s International Partnerships Coordinator. Based in La Paz, Mexico, Esmeralda will continue to strengthen international collaboration and communication strategies by coordinating cross-border engagement to support species recovery work.

Emily Siegel joins the team as Project Manager. Emily completed her Master of Environmental Management at Duke University, where she led a research team using conservation technology to monitor African elephants. Emily will manage funding streams and organize our events.

Road to Recovery is entering an exciting new chapter as we continue our mission to support species working groups across the Western Hemisphere. Our work remains grounded in the collective effort of our many partners.

We invite partners to stay engaged through our online events, upcoming in-person workshops, and application of the Species Recovery Progress Wheel. We will continue adding resources to the R2R website to support bird population recovery.
