Species Working Group

Species Working Groups are at the heart of Road to Recovery’s approach to recovering bird species. We have resources, tools, and contact directories to advance this work.

Working Groups

Species Working Groups are the beating heart of R2R. They are collaborative teams dedicated to understanding and reversing the declines of some of our most vulnerable bird species. Each group brings together the partners needed to get the job done across the full annual cycle––from biologists, social scientists, and conservation practitioners to land managers and community members, Working Groups identify the specific factors driving population declines so they can design targeted, science-based recovery strategies that work for both humans and birds.

R2R’s Species Working Groups use the Road to Recovery framework and tools, including the Species Recovery Progress Wheel, to move from assessment and planning toward coordinated conservation action.

Species Working Group Directory

Use our directory to join, collaborate with, or establish a species working group. This directory includes contact information for members of species working groups and associated Joint Ventures. It also identifies tipping point species without species working groups. Contact us (r2rbirds@gmail.com) with information to add to, or update, this directory.
Visit our Workshop and Engagement Session Resources page to find materials from previous workshops and engagement sessions, including Species Working Group Webinars.
Attend our monthly Species Working Group Webinars to participate in topical discussions.
