We will explore the panelists’ career journeys and unique perspective on conservation, and how to stay motivated and hopeful while doing conservation work. Meet the panelists

Binta Dixon
Afrofuturism Collective Facilitator and Award recipient, American Bird Conservancy
Binta is an Afrofuturist writer, care advocate, community facilitator, and recipient of American Bird Conservancy’s inaugural Afrofuturism Collective award. She is a student of nature dedicated to uplifting stories of connection, joy, and care throughout the African Diaspora with a focus on Black Queer people in the Southern U.S.

Julian Garcia Walther
Bird Lab Director, Pronatura Noroeste
Julian is a Mexican biologist with over a decade of experience in conserving coastal wetlands and migratory birds along the Pacific Flyway. He leads the expansion of the Motus network in northwest Mexico, using movement ecology to better understand and protect bird populations in Mexico and beyond

Dolcy Miinens
Nagadjitòdjig Akì (Guardians), Kitigan Zibi
Dolcy has been working as Nagadjitodjig Aki for 4 years and is an excellent asset to the team. Her favourite parts of being a guardian are working with traditional medicines, reviving the Anishinabemowin language and story telling through the camera lens.
